Jeanette and I recently got into jwv's Tuesday Nite Fites, a weekly war of concepts. We spent a decent chunk of our past few Tuesdays checking the TNF away message and determining which concept in each fite prevailed, and then backing up our argument philosophically. Good times, good times. However, the TNF-ers have suspended absentee voting indefinitely, and since neither Jeanette nor I attends St. John's College, our weeks now have a gaping hole in them. Sort of like House's heart.
Anywho, we've decided to start our own weekly, wholly electronic event. Welcome to Wednesday Night Writes, a literary competition. In WNW, we will post a topic every Wednesday night on the WNW journal ( wednitewrites). Players must e-mail us or post a story, blurb, bit of dialogue, poem, text + image, ANY creative form that involves words, pertaining to the topic. All responses must not exceed 200 words. We'll post the topic Wednesday morning, and all entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm Wednesday night.
Thursday, we will post all the submissions on the WNW journal, and the voting begins. Anyone can vote. Voting closes 10 p.m. Thursday night, votes are tallied, and we select a WNW winner. The prize is a poem for the winner, scripted by none other than Jeanette and myself.
All interested parties, check the WNW journal tomorrow morning and let the writing begin! |
